Approved Planning Application in Dorset: Conversion of an existing garage into annex accommodation for short-term holiday let.

Planning Authority: Dorset Council, Wimborne

Studio Homer is thrilled to announce that we have secured planning permission for the conversion of an existing garage into annex accommodation for short-term holiday let. Dorset Council Planning Authority approved the application on the 15th Jan 2024 after a short application process.

After presenting the clients with a few design and layout options, we moved forward with an application to the Dorset Council Planning Authority with a final drawing set and planning statement outlining the proposal.

The existing garage and conservatory were used as an art room for the homeowner. The approved conversion aimed to provide the retired homeowner with a source of income during select periods of the year and to provide space for their family to visit. While maintaining a space for painting during vacant periods.

With the challenges presented for an applicated within the Dorset Green Belt and an area at risk of flooding, we are pleased that the design solutions presented to the Dorset Council Planning Authority overcame any concerns they had about the proposed development.

We will now move forward with the next stage of the development process. Extending our architectural services to produce building regulation drawings will support the builder with the project and assist building control with the signing off of the project ready for the first occupation.
